  • POLICE6: Introduced in 2017 and 2018, these FPIUs come equipped with the Code 3 Pursuit lightbar (approx. unit 257-267, excluding 258 and 260).
  • POLICE7b: These are 2017 and 2018 FPIUs featuring the Federal Signal Valor lightbar (approx. unit 270-299).
  • POLICE7: The 2019 "300 series" FPIUs mark a return to widespread use of push bumpers for the department.

Highlights

  • Realistic decals, equipment, and lighting patterns.
  • All units come with multiple unit numbers based on the real life vehicles.
  • Optional equipment including ALPR, LoJack system, different antenna setups, and interior details.

ELS Usage

This pack uses ELS (Emergency Lighting System) for emergency lighting controls. Most vehicles support the following features:

  • Spotlight and/or takedown
  • White flashing that turns off automatically when out of vehicle (or manually with the warning lights toggle)
  • Steady burn mode
  • Rear amber override (FS valor) with secondary lights toggle

  • Greetings! First: Absolutely *LOVE* this FPIU and your FPIS models. I've used these to replace police (2020 FPIU), police2 (Arjent), and police3 (Slick). Exceptional attention to detail and your ELS/carcols voo-doo is remarkable.

Now, that last bit is the primary motivator for this comment, heh. I like to cruise around in your Police7 FPIU because of the Valor and the takedown configuration. With that being said, there is something I am trying to do BUT I don't think its possible... I just want to run it past you to see if that is the case.

At Lstg3, everything works as expected for responder/pursuit mode. Now, I like to drop down to Lstg2 when on-scene or on a traffic stop. ELS lighting changes to the pattern I choose and all is well. Here is the rub, though: I use ELS <DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg>2</DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg> so that the traffic will go around while the vehicle is parked. With this enabled, the lightbar pattern does not change (from Lstg3 to Lstg2) and stays on the "pursuit" mode. If I change ELS <DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg>3</DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg>, then the lighting changes and all is well *except* traffic no longer goes around me at Lstg2.

So, to wrap: I would like to have Lstg2 change to a calmer lighting pattern and have the ability for traffic to "go around" the parked vehicle. I don't think its possible because this vehicle uses the carcols (=DfltSirenLts?) for its lighting (primarily) and the trigger that ELS uses to redirect traffic is likely relying on DfltSirenLts

Lstg3 = carcols: the game code recognizes this as emergency lighting

Lstg2 = ELS: "cosmetic" lighting only and the game does not recognize this as emergency lighting

Changing <DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg>2</DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg> is basically creating an alias that tricks the game into thinking Lstg2 and Lstg3 are the same?

I know this is clear as mud... but, thanks for reading and let me know if you have any ideas! I've tried to make my own cars and I have to say, it really made me appreciate the amount of work that you folks put in.

    • Glad you are enjoying the vehicles!

Your summary sounds mostly correct and unfortunately I don't think it is possible either. At stages 1-2 only ELS extras are active. At stage 3 the real siren (carcols) is active which will make traffic yield. The carcols are set up to hide the ELS extras, so that stage 3 can have a fully custom pattern and not interfered by ELS. This means if you set DfltSirenLtsActivateAtLstg to 2, then the carcols will just activate at ELS stage 2 which effectively make it look like stage 3.

    • Thanks so much for the reply and confirming what I thought to be the case! I'm really enjoying how you were able to summarize what I was trying to say in 3 paragraphs..... in 3 sentences ^^

I can appreciate the trade off since there is no way that you can produce that cool cascading lights pattern with ELS. ...and I love the takedowns configuration.

Keep up the great work - I'm hoping you have more interesting things coming out BUT, also, I see how much work goes into these things. "Burn-out" would be a problem for me.
