Website Updates

    • Official Post

We've just finished updating our software. Apart from a minor update to the gallery, we've implemented a new filebase software and a new design for the complete website.

The most extensive changes have been made to the filebase:

    • It is now possible assign files to mulitple categories, giving you many possibilities to filter for specific files.
    • For police vehicles categories, each country will get an own category.
    • All vehicle categories now provide labels for car brands.
    • For GTA IV, the ELS versions can be set and filtered as well.

We're going to add more labels or categories if required in future. If you have any suggestions, please let us know. Of course, all approved old files have been moved to the new software and old links are still working.

If you've found any issue or you want to give feedback, feel free to use the Website Feedback & Discussion category.

We've just completed the following small changes to our forum layout:

    • We've added a new Our Website category inside the Miscellaneous Discussion section at bottom, which combines our old News & Announcements and Website Feedback & Discussion categories.
    • The game Discussion and support and the modding discussion and support categories were merged to form generic categories for discussion and support.
    • The old 3D Modeling and Graphic Design category has been replaced with a new Modding section. The Graphic Design & Texturing and 3D Modeling categories can be used to discuss tools and techniques regardless of the game.

The Development Parts category of our Filebase has been replaced with new Development Resources categories in the forums.

We've performed this step to make a clearer division between the Showroom, which is meant to be a place for all kinds of modifications, including development resources, and our filebase, where we provide quality modfications that have been checked to meet our standards.
It's impossible to define quality standards for development parts, since they're not meant to be finished, but to be edited by other modders. Users are able to post resources without requiring approval.

We've completed our software update and the re-branding to Modding Forum.

The software update included many minor improvements. Apart from the new style, most of them allow us to customize more aspects of the website. Since we wanted to complete the maintenance as quickly as possible, some planned changes have not been introduced yet and will follow in the next weeks.

If you find any issues, please report them in our Website category.

More information about the new name can be found here: New name: Modding Forum, scheduled maintenance on May 25th

We no longer allow embedding images from third party websites. This change has been made for multiple reasons: We want to encourage users to attach images rather than use external hosters. We've already had multiple occasions where external images were no longer available and even one case were an external hoster was a potential security threat. Additionally, external hosters could use embedded images to track users on this website.

We recommend the use of attachments to post your own images. Copyrighted work legally may not be uploaded, instead a link to the image should be posted.

Please note that this also includes images in signatures. We are working on providing a way to upload signature images directly, but it's unlikely that this will be implemented soon.

We also have some info regarding upcoming changes:

    • The EU's General Data Protection Regulation will take effect on May 25th 2018. We will therefore update our privacy policy in the next couple of weeks with more in-depth information about our processing of personal data.
    • We are currently testing an update to our software that provides a few new small features, we will most likely perform the update some time in the next months.
Together with this update we will make some changes to the website's design, including seperate light and dark versions. The updated design is currently in progress, however there has not been any final draft so far. We would appreciate input regarding current drafts and if possible by providing new ideas. If anybody is interested in providing such input, feel free to contact me for more info, preferably in Discord.

We've installed updates earlier today which have introduced many changes. The most important changes are:

    • A new design with a light and a dark mode. You can switch the styles using the sun/moon icon on the top right corner on desktop or using the menu on mobile devices.
    • YouTube videos can now be posted in our gallery. Note: This feature has been removed, as it was not used by our members.
    • It's now possible to upload a cover photo in your profiles.

On top of that, we've made improvements to many minor parts of the website. Most noticeable are an improved filebase landing page and a new page for guides.

If you notice any issues, please post them in our website category. Alternatively, you can also contact us on our Discord server.

We have added new user profile fields for Discord servers, Paypal Donation links and Patreon pages. These links and the links to your website and YouTube channel will be shown next to your files in our filebase and in your showroom threads.

Like the YouTube channel and website fields, these new user profile fields are exempt from our rules regarding advertising and paid mods. You may use these fields to post links to commercial websites, YouTube channels or Discord servers, as long as their content is relevant for the topic of this website.

The showroom categories now display a preview image of the thread instead of the author's avatar. It automatically uses the first attached image of the first post. You can change the order of attached images via drag and drop in the attachments tab to select a different image as the preview image.
