Making breakable Glass

  • Hi, just wanted to see if anyone could help guide me on how to create glass that can get shot out. I've tried watching tutorials and putting Crash in both the collision and material yet none worked.

  • Make sure to assign the correct ID for the collision in polygon mode, usually 120 for weak glass, 121 for medium glass or 122 for strong glass. The ID can be set in the object's properties in General > External state, alternatively you can also use the GTA V > Options menu to select the collision type and the flags.

  • I did that for my side windows and it worked but my windscreen it doesnt shatter. Also is their a way to fix my vehicle only has bullet holes on certain parts even though its 116 for the whole chassis col throughout the entire vehicle? It only shows the flash the bullet but no holes on some parts.

  • Also make sure the window has both a vehglass layer AND a vehglass_inner layer (facing inwards).

The game only draws bullet holes on certain bones, including bodyshell, wings, doors, hood and trunk, etc. I’m guessing you have some exterior surfaces that’s on the chassis? If that’s the case, move them to the bodyshell.

  • Your reference to "I’m guessing you have some exterior surfaces that’s on the chassis? If that’s the case, move them to the bodyshell." I made boxes that are the shape of the vehicle but my vehicle only has bullet holes on certain parts even though its 116 for the whole chassis col. What would I move and where?

I don't think the issue is with the collision since it draws sparks when being shot at. I was talking about the actual mesh for exterior surfaces of the car. If you can attach a screenshot of zmod for the part that's not showing bullet holes that could help with troubleshooting.
